We graduated our first high school class!!!! It was a beautiful thing to see these kids get their diplomas. Each of our graduates has quite a story and has struggled in various aspects of their lives.
There are times that as a school director, Julio and I felt like we were constantly lecturing and dealing with discipline issues with the kids and wondered if it ever really made a difference. We had set up a campfire night to say good bye to these great graduating seniors and not a single one of them left with dry eyes, and neither did we. Now it fills our hearts as they come over to our home often asking for advice in different areas or just to spend time together. So they DO know that we love them and care!
The Lord allowed us to see many of our goals accomplished in academics and getting a building grant approved for the roofing of a concrete slab that will be labs and classrooms someday. This grant is a TON of work and has kept Julio really busy the last few months, but we are excited to see it finished in a few months, we hope.
It has been a heartwarming experience tohave people from the USA come and spend some time with us down here. We feel blessed by the encouragement they always give us and are so thankful for all the supplies and gifts they bring down for us and our students.
Our #1 goal for 2012 is to see more young people come to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and have them grow in their faith. Nothing makes us happier!
- We would love to have more teams or families come down to minister beside us, get to know the ministry, take on projects, become interns, etc.
- Raise our family’s support (something we tend to put off because it isn’t fun) now with 3 kids, life costs more and we are in need of raising between three to five hundred more a month.
- Have more people praying for us and DCA. Spiritual warfare here is a big issue and we face many obstacles with sharing the gospel and living for Jesus. We are ALWAYS in need of prayer; we need more wisdom as we have many hard decisions to make continuously. It is also difficult to balance our time for work, church and family so we need to make sure we don’t neglect one area to cover another.
- Raise more support for Compassion in Action tocover the growing Dario Christian Academy costs down here. Please sponsor a student or tell someone else about our sponsorship program. You truly can make a difference in the life of a child! We are so grateful for all those who for C in A in the US who volunteer all their time to make this ministry possible.
- We would like to travel to the States soon for a visit, which involves financial resources and planning, but it has been on our hearts for about a year. It has been a few years since we’ve been back and we would love to see all of you again!
Thank you for all of your prayers and love to us and the people of Nicaragua. Dios les bendiga!
Blessings,
Narlly Solano-Mendez
Director of Dario Christian Academy
